Hyderabad, India - In a significant and impassioned address during the extended Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting in Hyderabad, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge urged party members to set aside their differences and personal interests and work tirelessly towards a common goal of success. Kharge's remarks echoed a call for unity and discipline within the party, emphasizing the need to prioritize the preservation of Indian democracy and the Constitution of India.
During the meeting, Kharge stressed the importance of exercising self-restraint when dealing with internal disputes and avoiding making statements to the media that could harm the party's interests. He called upon the Congress to unite and collectively work towards overthrowing what he referred to as a "dictatorial" government, emphasizing that this was essential to safeguard democracy.
Highlighting the significance of organizational unity, Kharge pointed to the party's successes in Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh as evidence that discipline can lead to victory. He stated that the Congress's triumphs in these states were clear indications that people were seeking alternatives to the current government.
"We are all aware of the challenges that lie ahead. These challenges aren't just those of the Congress party. They concern the survival of Indian democracy and the preservation of the Constitution of India," Kharge emphasized during his address.
Taking a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Kharge criticized the BJP's rule, stating, "In the past 10 years under BJP rule, the challenges faced by ordinary people have multiplied. The Prime Minister refuses to address the concerns of the poor, farmers, laborers, women, and youth. Instead, he cannot look beyond himself."
In a separate resolution adopted by the CWC, the party expressed its strong support for the consolidation of the INDIA bloc, claiming that it had already unsettled Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP. The resolution praised the efforts of the opposition bloc in challenging the ruling party's policies and actions.
The CWC also expressed deep concern over the "total breakdown of the constitutional machinery" in Manipur and the ongoing violence in the state. The resolution alleged that the BJP's polarizing agenda had led to a bitterly divided Manipur, with clashes between security forces, civilians, and the state police force.
Moreover, the CWC called upon the government to address the border dispute with China and take a resolute stand to protect the territorial integrity of India. The party reiterated its demand for a joint parliamentary committee probe into revelations regarding the Adani issue.
As the Congress party looks ahead to future challenges, Mallikarjun Kharge's call for unity, discipline, and a focus on preserving Indian democracy underscores the party's determination to confront the issues facing the nation and provide viable alternatives to the current government. The CWC's resolutions on various critical matters further illustrate the party's commitment to addressing pressing national concerns.
