Hyderabad, India - The stage is set for a significant political gathering as the Congress Working Committee (CWC) convenes in Hyderabad today for its first meeting under the leadership of newly appointed Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. The primary focus of this meeting is to strategize for the upcoming assembly elections in five states, with key party leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi, in attendance.

In a press conference held in Delhi ahead of the meeting, President Kharge expressed his enthusiasm for this pivotal gathering, stating, "This is the first CWC meeting after I took charge as the party president. An extended working committee meeting will also take place tomorrow where discussions related to the party will be done. Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and all senior leaders will be present in the meeting and have discussions regarding the upcoming elections in five states and plan accordingly."

The significance of this meeting extends beyond discussing election strategies. It also sends a strong political message that the Congress party is determined to challenge the ruling Bharatiya Rashtriya Sangh (BRS) government in the poll-bound state of Telangana.

Leaders within the party have hailed this CWC meeting as a "game changer" and a "transformative moment" for Telangana politics and the Congress party as a whole, according to sources within the party.

The CWC meeting will be held for three consecutive days outside Delhi, a departure from the norm. General secretaries KC Venugopal and Jairam Ramesh explained, "This is for the first time in many years that the party's top decision-making body will hold deliberations for three days outside Delhi."

On the agenda for Sunday, there will be a meeting of the extended CWC, which will include state party chiefs, CLP leaders, Parliamentary Party office-bearers, and Central Election Committee members. The aim is to strategize comprehensively for the upcoming elections in the five states.

Coinciding with this extended meeting, the Congress party will also celebrate 'Telangana National Integration Day' with a "mega rally" near Hyderabad. During this event, the party is set to unveil "six guarantees" designed to address key issues in the Telangana assembly elections.

The Congress Working Committee comprises 39 regular members, 32 permanent invitees, and 13 special invitees. Notably, it includes 15 women members and several prominent new faces, such as Shashi Tharoor, Sachin Pilot, and Gaurav Gogoi, who hold regular membership.

As the Congress party gears up for this crucial CWC meeting in Hyderabad, all eyes are on the strategies and announcements that will emanate from this gathering. It promises to be a pivotal moment in shaping the party's approach towards the upcoming state assembly elections and, consequently, the political landscape of India.
