Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Parliament building on Monday after a pooja and Sengol ceremony. The opposition parties boycotted the ceremony, alleging that the government had not consulted them on the design of the building.
The new Parliament building is located next to the existing Parliament building. It has a total floor area of 64,500 square meters and can accommodate 888 members of Parliament. The building is also equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including a library, a museum, and a conference hall.
In his address after the inauguration, PM Modi said that the new Parliament building is a symbol of India's progress and development. He said that the building will provide a platform for the elected representatives of the people to debate and discuss the issues of national importance.
The opposition parties, however, have criticized the government for not consulting them on the design of the new Parliament building. They have also alleged that the government has spent a huge amount of money on the construction of the building, which could have been used for other purposes.
The new Parliament building is expected to be completed by 2024. Once it is completed, the existing Parliament building will be used for other purposes, such as housing the offices of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet Ministers.
