Chittorgarh, Rajasthan – In a fiery address to a public rally in Chittorgarh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, accusing the Congress-led state government of mismanagement, corruption, and failing to address issues plaguing the state. Modi also pledged significant developmental projects worth Rs 7,000 crore for the state, underscoring the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) commitment to Rajasthan's growth and prosperity.
Addressing the enthusiastic crowd, Prime Minister Modi began by lambasting the infighting within the Congress party in Rajasthan, asserting that Gehlot's government had been struggling to maintain stability. He claimed that while Gehlot clung to his Chief Ministerial chair, a significant portion of Congress leaders actively sought to unseat him, causing chaos within the state's political landscape.
"The Congress successfully formed a government by deceiving the people of Rajasthan. However, the Ashok Gehlot government failed to run properly," Modi declared. He lamented the rising incidents of crimes against women in the state and accused the Congress government of perpetuating this troubling trend, stating, "the Congress had made this a tradition."
Modi went on to assert that the Congress government had "destroyed" Rajasthan over the past five years, decrying the state's high crime rate and questioning whether this was the mandate Rajasthanis had given to Congress. In a dig at Gehlot's acknowledgment of impending defeat, the Prime Minister noted that the Chief Minister had even requested the BJP not to discontinue his initiatives once in power.
"Ashok Gehlot is aware that the countdown for Congress's farewell has begun," Modi quipped. "He is requesting that after BJP forms its government in Rajasthan, his schemes should not be discontinued."
Acknowledging Gehlot's remarks, Modi assured the crowd that the BJP would not halt public schemes but would instead enhance them. He pledged to provide the harshest punishment for the paper leak mafia operating in the state, vowing to hold those responsible accountable for corruption and the exploitation of vulnerable citizens.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated several significant developmental projects amounting to Rs 7,000 crore in Rajasthan, emphasizing the state's importance to his government's agenda. He lauded Rajasthan's rich cultural heritage, its current economic strength, and the boundless possibilities for the future, referring to it as 'trishakti' – a triple strength that enhances the nation's prowess.
Among the projects launched were tourism facilities developed at Nathdwara in Rajsamand under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme, a modern 'tourist interpretation and cultural centre' at Nathdwara, and a permanent campus for the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) in Kota.
As the political landscape in Rajasthan heats up with the upcoming Assembly elections, Modi's visit and promises of development underscore the BJP's determination to secure the state's support and lead it towards a brighter future. With 200 Assembly seats at stake, Rajasthan's political fate will be decided by its citizens at the end of the year.
