Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Urges Online Platforms to Comply

In response to the recent dismissal of Twitter's plea against the Centre's order by the Karnataka High Court, Union Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, emphasized the importance of online platforms working in compliance with Indian law. The minister's remarks come as a reminder to platforms collaborating with the Government of India and the country's citizens to be responsible and uphold legal obligations.


Expressing his views on the matter, Chandrasekhar stated, "I hope there is a learning from this behavior of Twitter that platforms working with the government of India, working with the citizens and consumers of India become responsible and work with the compliance of the Indian law," as reported by news agency ANI. His statement reflects the government's stance on the need for accountability and adherence to Indian regulations within the digital realm.


The Centre's order had directed Twitter to block numerous social media accounts and tweets spanning from February 2021 to February 2022. In response, Twitter contested 39 of the blocking orders, leading to the case being brought before the Karnataka High Court. However
