The summit, scheduled to take place from September 9, will bring together leaders from the world's largest economies to discuss pressing global issues, economic policies, and cooperation strategies. This year's host, India, has left no stone unturned to ensure a smooth and secure gathering.
Elegant Hosts Await the World Leaders
With an impressive roster of dignitaries slated to attend, the city's luxury hotels are preparing to play host to some of the world's most influential figures. The ITC Maurya Sheraton will welcome none other than US President Joe Biden, while the opulent Taj Palace has been chosen as the accommodation for Chinese President Xi Jinping.
In total, 23 hotels within Delhi and an additional nine in the National Capital Region (NCR) will extend their hospitality to the G20 delegates. This carefully curated list of establishments includes iconic names like the Taj Mansingh, Hotel Oberoi, Le Meridian, The Surya, and the Radisson Blue Plaza, among others, ensuring that world leaders are met with the utmost comfort and luxury during their stay.
Security Takes Center Stage
In tandem with the meticulous arrangements for accommodations, security measures have been escalated to ensure the safety of the delegates. Commandos from various elite security agencies, including the American Secret Service, will be stationed at the hotels, with special attention being paid to US President Joe Biden's stay at the ITC Maurya Sheraton.
Sources report that the American Secret Service squad will be present on every floor of the hotel where President Biden will reside, underscoring the commitment to his safety. A dedicated elevator will be installed to directly access his 14th-floor quarters, which will be part of the comprehensive security plan for his stay.
Diverse Delegations Across the City
A plethora of countries will be represented at different hotels across Delhi and the NCR. For instance, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will be accommodated at the Shangri-La Hotel, while French President Emmanuel Macron will find lodgings at the Claridges Hotel.
Notably, the Oberoi Hotel will play host to the Turkish delegation, Le Meridien will welcome representatives from Mauritius, Netherlands, Nigeria, and Spain, and the Taj Palace will provide accommodations for the Chinese and Brazilian delegates.
Impressive Security Deployment
The Ministry of Home Affairs has been working diligently to ensure top-notch security throughout the event. Central paramilitary forces, NSG commandos, and Delhi Police teams are all set to be deployed to ensure the safety of the foreign guests. Over 1,000 personnel from the CRPF have been specially trained to handle VIP security, forming an integral part of the security detail for the G20 summit.
As the world leaders prepare to convene in Delhi for the G20 Leaders' Summit, the city is abuzz with preparations, both for the diplomatic discussions that will shape the global economy and for the complex security measures that will ensure a safe and successful event.
